Yasser M.

Head of Fundamental Research at Delphia

Yasser M. has a diverse and extensive work experience in the finance industry. Yasser started their career at GLG Partners as an Analyst, where they focused on quantitative equity and macro strategies. Yasser worked closely with top executives in the company, including the CIO, Chief Strategist, and Chief Equity Strategist. In 2010, Yasser founded Sentiment Arbitrage, where they conducted research and developed a market-neutral strategy for Canadian equities.

Afterwards, Yasser joined Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan as a Manager, where they served for three years. Following this, they worked at Manulife as a Director, specializing in quantitative analytics across all asset classes. Yasser later resigned from this position to pursue an opportunity at Wealthsimple, where they became the Head of Investment Research.

In 2018, Yasser established Kurtosis Consulting Inc., where they acted as the Founder and Managing Director. Yasser provided consulting services in the areas of alpha generation, portfolio construction, and risk management to a range of clients, including a pension fund, hedge fund, fintech, and family office.

Simultaneously, Yasser also served as the Portfolio Manager for Salient Equity Market Neutral Strategy, where they traded a proprietary market-neutral strategy in liquid North American and European equities. Yasser achieved double-digit gains every year since its inception in 2018, with significant gains in March 2020 and H1 2022.

Most recently, Yasser joined Delphia as the Head of Fundamental Research in 2022. Yasser also previously worked at Delphia as a Consultant from 2019 to 2022.

Yasser M. has a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from the Schulich School of Business - York University. Yasser has also pursued further studies in Finance & Economics and holds a Master's degree (MSc) from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Additionally, Yasser has obtained certifications in Financial Risk Management (FRM) from the Global Association of Risk Professionals and in Predictive Modeling from SAS.
