Sonny Lau

Sonny Lau has extensive work experience in the medical field. Sonny started their career as the Medical Director at The Travel Doctor - TMVC, Melbourne Clinic in 1995. Since then, they have held various roles and responsibilities in the healthcare sector. Currently, Sonny Lau serves as the Principal Public Health Medical Officer at the Victorian Department of Health, a position they have held since June 2020.

Sonny Lau obtained a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from the University of Melbourne from 1978 to 1983. Later, they pursued a Master of Public Health & Tropical Medicine from James Cook University in 1999. In 2005, they received a Certificate of Travel Health from the International Society of Travel Medicine. Subsequently, they became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 2011. Lastly, in 2015, they became a Fellow of the Faculty of Travel Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow. Prior to their higher education, Sonny Lau attended St Joseph's Anglo-Chinese School from 1965 to 1976.
