Thierry Legrain

Thierry Legrain has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and industries. Thierry is currently a Senior Embedded Engineer and People Lead at Derive Systems, where they play a key role in formulating the company's long-term SDLC plans, creating training programs, and guiding design. In this position, they also utilize their knowledge of hardware and firmware to improve code quality and stability.

Prior to this, Thierry worked as a Full-time Climbing Guide/Instructor at Adventures on the Gorge Resort, where they honed their guiding skills and instructed climbing and equipment use to a wide range of people.

Thierry also has experience as a Firmware Engineer at 3SAE Technologies, Inc., where they specialized in firmware development and design of sensors with sporadic cloud connection.

Thierry has further worked as a FW/HW/SW Product Developer at NUA Corp, where they were involved in product development, firmware creation, and software maintenance.

Before that, they served as a Firmware/Software Team Lead and Senior Embedded Application Engineer at Griffin Technology, where they provided leadership to software and embedded application teams, developed firmware, and advised on future products.

Thierry also worked as a Consultant and Software and Hardware Developer at NUA Corp, offering consultation to businesses on product strategy, firmware development, software maintenance, and providing training.

In addition, Thierry has held leadership positions in high-tech design and manufacturing companies such as Intersoft Corp and Intersoft, where they provided marketing and product strategy, technical support, and managed the overall operations of the companies.

Their journey in the professional world began as the Founder/Owner of Intersoft-Agri, where they designed software, collaborated with research and design teams, and handled marketing and sales.

Thierry Legrain holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Professional Mathematics from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, including a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialization Certificate from the University of California, Davis/Coursera in April 2023. Thierry also holds a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification from NOLS Wilderness Medicine, obtained in February 2018. In November 2017, Thierry became an AMGA Certified Rock and Alpine Guide (AMGA SPI). Furthermore, they are a Certified ScrumMaster® accredited by Scrum Alliance since July 2015. Lastly, Thierry obtained the LNT Trainer certification from the Leave No Trace Center For Outdoor Ethics in June 2015.
