Margarita Contreras

Margarita Contreras, Ed.D., serves as the School Director at Design Tech High School, a free public charter high school with a focus on design thinking and innovation, since July 2023. Prior to this role, Margarita held the position of Assistant Principal at San Mateo Union High School District, overseeing various programs including those for English learners and homeless/foster youth from July 2021 to June 2023. Margarita also served as Associate Superintendent of Educational Services for the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District, managing comprehensive educational services from July 2017 to June 2021. Earlier experience includes a second stint as Assistant Principal at San Mateo Union High School District, leading curriculum and student services at Capuchino High School, and roles in teacher induction and support coordination within Sequoia Union High School District. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from USC Rossier School of Education, along with multiple degrees and credentials from prestigious institutions such as UC Berkeley, Stanford University, and San Jose State University.
