Jarod Waybright

Principal Scientist at Design Therapeutics

Jarod Waybright began their professional career in 2010 as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Virginia Tech, where they were a group leader responsible for the synthesis of novel antimicrobial dendromers. In 2013, they joined the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy as a Graduate Research Assistant. In 2017, they became a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where they developed chemical probes for methyl-lysine reader proteins with a focus on Chromodomain proteins, using a variety of techniques including structure-based design, organic synthesis of target compounds, and assay development and implementation. In 2019, they became an NCI T32 Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Most recently, in 2021, they joined Design Therapeutics as a Senior Scientist- Chemistry.

Jarod Waybright's education history includes a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Pharmaceutical Sciences; Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2012-2017), and a Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry from Virginia Tech (2008-2012).
