Erik Kunttu

Director, Video Operations at Detroit Lions

Erik Kunttu enters his third season with the Lions after coming to the club in 2018 with more than 30 years of both professional and collegiate video experience. Prior to Detroit, Kunttu spent six seasons (2011-17) with the Indianapolis Colts where he was the club's video director.

Kunttu spent 17 years (1994-2011) at Syracuse University as the director of football video operations and served as the secretary for the Collegiate Sports Video Association (CSVA) from 2005-10 before being elected as the CSVA president in 2010. In 2005, Kunttu was named the Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year, an award voted on by members of the CSVA.

At Syracuse, Kunttu was part of four (1996-98, 2004) Big East Co-Conference Championship teams. He originally entered the NFL in 1990, serving as the assistant video director with the Buffalo Bills. Kunttu went on to spend five seasons in Buffalo, including helping them to four consecutive Super Bowl appearances.

The Orchard Park, N.Y., native earned his bachelor's degree in communications from Canisius College. He was named special teams most valuable player at Canisius in 1991. Erik has four children - Kaija, Mason, Davin and Jaxon.
