Randy Hawes is an accomplished musician and educator with extensive experience in the field of music. Currently a faculty member at the Cleveland Institute of Music since September 2016, Randy is responsible for recruiting, teaching, and coaching the trombone studio. Concurrently, Randy serves as a lecturer at Northwestern University, focusing on trombone studio coaching since 2005. Randy's performance career includes playing bass trombone with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) since 1985, contributing to both orchestral and chamber music, as well as mentoring members of the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra. Previous experience includes performing as a bass trombonist with the Woody Herman Orchestra from 1982 to 1984, where Randy gained significant insights into the music business. Randy holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Central Michigan University and studied at Carnegie Mellon University from 1984 to 1985.
