Dr. Thomas Bornkessel

Dr. Thomas Bornkessel currently serves as the Head of Engineering Trains and Head of Lean Management and Transformation at Deutsche Bahn since September 2019, and has been an International Leadership Fellow at the Society of Leadership Fellows since January 2021. Prior to these roles, Dr. Bornkessel had an extensive career at Rolls-Royce from 2006 to August 2019, occupying various positions including Global Chief of System Design Transformation and Chief of Engineering Improvement for Corporate Small & Medium Engines. Earlier experience includes a role as a Structural Simulations Engineer at ESA/ESTEC from 2001 to 2006. Dr. Bornkessel holds a Dr.-Ing. degree from Technische Universität Darmstadt and has furthered education at Trinity College Dublin and the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
