Dr. Indika Samarakoon

Dr. Indika Samarakoon has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Dr. Indika is currently working as the Principal Solutions Engineer (General Manager) - IOT/M2M Solutions and R&D at Dialog Axiata PLC since August 2022. Prior to this, from February 2021 to September 2023, they served as a Senior Consultant - Product & Service Innovation at the same company.

Dr. Samarakoon also held various positions at Dialog Axiata PLC, including Head M2M/IOT Strategy & Partner Management from June 2017 to September 2023, and Head M2M Solution Development & Architecture from February 2013 to June 2017.

Before joining Dialog Axiata PLC, Dr. Samarakoon worked as a Project Engineer for Touch Screen R&D and Embedded Software Development at Atmel Corporation from November 2011 to January 2013. Dr. Indika also served as a Technical Consultant (Embedded Software Engineer) at Oxtec Ltd., UK from June 2011 to December 2012.

In addition, they worked as an Instrumentation Engineer (Embedded Software) for the Ocean Bottom Instrumentation Consortium at the University of Southampton from May 2009 to November 2011. Prior to this, they were a Senior Embedded Software Engineer at Software Radio Technology from October 2006 to December 2008, and a Senior Research and Development Engineer at HW Communication Ltd from November 2004 to October 2006.

Dr. Samarakoon also has experience at Millennium Information Technologies, where they worked as a Telecom Billing Consultant from April 2004 to October 2004, and as a Senior Software Engineer from November 2002 to March 2004. Before that, they served as a Senior Research and Development Engineer at HW Communications Ltd from June 2000 to October 2002.

Dr. Indika'searliest work experience was as a Researcher at Lancaster University from October 1995 to June 2000.

Dr. Indika Samarakoon earned a PhD in Security and Protection for Future Mobile Systems from Lancaster University, completing the program from 1996 to 2001. Prior to that, they obtained an MSc in Digital Signal Processing Applications in Communication Systems from Lancaster University between 1994 and 1995. Dr. Samarakoon's undergraduate degree is a BSc in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, which they received from the University of Moratuwa from 1990 to 1994. Dr. Indika attended Nalanda College Colombo but information about the degree obtained is not available.
