Mona Akhavi

Mona Akhavi is currently the President of VRAI at Diamond Foundry. Mona has previously held the position of VP of Marketing at Diamond Foundry from May 2018 to September 2019. Prior to that, they were a Venture Partner at Unanimous Capital from June 2017 to May 2019. From May 2014 to June 2017, they served as the CEO and Co-Founder of Sidebuy, a data-driven platform connecting brands and local retailers with influencers and bloggers to run contextually targeted campaigns and to reach relevant customers. From March 2014 to February 2018, Mona was also a Contributor/Blogger for Startup Grind, writing on topics related to Technology, Start-ups, Entrepreneurs, Women in Tech and Women in Leadership. Additionally, they have experience in product development and management of web and mobile applications. Before their time at Startup Grind, Mona was a Product Manager for Digital Operations at CBC from March 2012 to May 2014. Prior to CBC, they were the Director of Marketing at Autobiographie Fashion Ltd. from August 2010 to February 2012. Before Autobiographie Fashion Ltd., they were a Project Manager for the Black Friday Shopping Network at Reinvent, Inc. from May 2009 to February 2012. Mona started their career as a Project Engineer at Neovasc Inc. (formerly Medical Ventures) from January 2003 to December 2006.

Mona Akhavi has a BASc. in Mechanical Engineering from The University of British Columbia. Mona is also a Certified Pragmatic Marketing Product Manager and has an MBA in Certified Scrum Product Owner from Agile Alliance. Additionally, they have an MBA from Beedie Graduate School of Business at Simon Fraser University. Mona is also certified by the Scrum Alliance in Agile Scrum Product Owner.
