James Wassenberg

James Wassenberg has a diverse work experience. James began their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Duke University Medical Center, where they conducted research on molecular chaperones and filed a US Patent. James then worked as an Investigator and Team Leader at Cogent Neuroscience Inc, leading a high-throughput screening team and achieving significant milestones in DNA and small molecule therapeutics. James later joined BioStratum Inc as a Scientist, where they discovered novel therapeutic lead compounds and initiated a drug discovery program for advanced glycation end-product inhibitors. Following this, Wassenberg worked at Beckman Coulter Inc as a Senior Development Scientist and Development Project Leader, and then at Beckman Coulter as a Staff Development Scientist and Project Leader. In these roles, they supervised development teams and collaborated with physicians and researchers to co-author scientific works. Currently, Wassenberg works at DiaSorin as a Director of Product Development, overseeing a team responsible for bringing medical diagnostics to market and managing various aspects including personnel, quality systems, regulatory compliance, international collaboration, and budgeting.

James Wassenberg received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Kansas State University in 1991. James then attended ETH Zürich in 1991-1992, where they pursued Biochemistry without obtaining a degree. Wassenberg went on to earn a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Neurobiology, and Biotechnology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1992 to 1997. Lastly, they completed a Post Doctoral program in Cell Biology and Cancer Biology at Duke University from 1997 to 2000.
