Abhinav has also been involved in volunteer work, serving as an Event Organizing Volunteer at COMSNETS in 2019. Abhinav was among the 12 students selected to be part of the volunteering committee for the COMSNETS 2020 conference, a prestigious conference in the Networking and Tele-Communication space.

In 2019, Abhinav worked as a Research and Development Intern at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Abhinav collaborated with the OSPF Drug Discovery Lab in a Deep Learning project to find relationships between various diagnostic parameters in a medical dataset using Unsupervised Deep Learning techniques under the mentorship of Dr. Jaleel UC, Principal Scientist.

Abhinav P Y pursued a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka. Abhinav attended the institution from 2017 to 2021. Prior to their bachelor's degree, Abhinav completed their high school education at Sri Chaitanya Techno School in Bangalore from 2011 to 2017. During high school, their focus was on studying Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science.

Additionally, Abhinav obtained certifications to enhance their knowledge in the field. In May 2019, they completed an "Introduction to Deep Learning 6.S191" course at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Abhinav also completed the "Machine Learning" course by Andrew Ng on Coursera in April 2019.
