Sonnet Edmonds

Sonnet Edmonds has a diverse and extensive work experience. Sonnet currently works as the General Counsel at Dimension Renewable Energy since January 2022. Prior to that, they were the Deputy General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Southern Power from May 2019 to January 2022. Sonnet also served as the Associate General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Southern Company from March 2015 to May 2019, where they handled all legal matters for Southern Power Company, including acquisitions, transactions, and litigation management.

Before joining Southern Company, Sonnet worked as an Attorney at Taylor English Duma LLP from March 2013 to February 2015, specializing in energy transactional matters. Sonnet also served as the General Counsel at Enerecap Partners from January 2011 to February 2015. Prior to that, Sonnet had their own law firm, Sonnet Edmonds Law Office, LLC, where they practiced as an Attorney focusing on transactional matters in the energy industry from October 2011 to May 2013.

Sonnet's earlier experiences include working as the Vice President & Assistant General Counsel--Assets and Commercial at GenOn (formerly Mirant Corp.) from September 1998 to January 2011. In this role, they served as lead counsel for transactional support, negotiating various contracts related to energy generation and trading. Sonnet began their legal career as an Associate Attorney at Polsinelli Shughart PC from June 1997 to September 1998, and later at Brickfield, Burchette, Ritts & Stone, PC from September 1993 to May 1997.

Throughout their career, Sonnet's legal experience has been primarily focused on the energy industry, including renewable energy, electric power, and oil & gas.

Sonnet Edmonds pursued their undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1986 to 1989. Sonnet obtained a Bachelor's degree in Political Science during this period. Later, from 1990 to 1993, they attended the University of Wisconsin Law School and earned a Juris Doctor (JD) degree with honors, cum laude.
