John Cavender

John Cavender, CISSP has over 20 years of professional work experience in information security, spanning multiple roles and companies. From 1997 to 1999, they served as an Information Technology Regional Manager at Clear Channel Worldwide. John then transitioned to the role of Director of Server Operations from 1999 to 2002 before ultimately becoming the Security Principal / Director of IT Security from 2002 to 2014. Following their time at Clear Channel Worldwide, John joined NTT DATA Services in 2014 as an Information Security Manager, where they worked until 2018. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Information Security at DISA Global Solutions, Inc.

John Cavender, CISSP, obtained their Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) degree in Finance from the University of Central Florida, where they studied from 1984 to 1988. In addition to their undergraduate education, John has acquired several professional certifications throughout their career. John became a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) in January 2003, through the (ISC)² organization. Prior to that, they obtained the MCSE certification from Microsoft in May 1998 and the MCDBA certification from Microsoft in February 1999. Taking a further step, John earned the ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure library) certification in June 2010, granted by ITIL Certified. John pursued a broader knowledge base with the CISM certification from ISACA in December 2012, and further specialized their expertise by earning the CISA certification from ISACA in June 2013. Most recently, in February 2018, John received the C|CISO certification from EC-Council.
