Raul Krauss

Founder & VP, Head of Biology at Disarm Therapeutics

Raul is VP, Head of Biology and co-founder of Disarm Therapeutics. He was previously Co-Head, North America, of the Neurology Disease Area Team (NeuroDAT) at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, where he led a strategic and scientific committee responsible for all early stage Neurology Programs. While at Vertex, he also served as the Multiple Sclerosis Disease Area Expert, and as the research representative on the late development team that prepared the IND submission for VX-210, an experimental drug for spinal cord injury. Experienced in forming and leading teams in drug discovery and target prosecution, he was a major initiator or contributor to discovery projects in disorders of the central nervous system involving axo-glial communication, myelination, glial cell biology, and axonal degeneration and protection.

Raul previously held roles as Director of Neurosciences at AlphaGene, and in neuroscience discovery research at Biogen-Idec and Genetics Institute/Wyeth. Raul earned his PhD in Neurobiology from Harvard University, under the supervision of Gerald Fischbach, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Neurobiology at Harvard Medical School. He has served on ad-hoc NIH review panels for spinal cord trauma and brain cancer research, has several publications and patent applications, and authored a chapter in “Culturing Nerve Cells” (Banker and Goslin, Eds, MIT Press), a standard textbook in the field.
