Performance Engineer at Distributed Solar Development

Greg Russell has a diverse work experience in the renewable energy industry. Greg started their career as a Head Guitar Instructor at Guitar and Bassland in 2008, where they taught guitar and bass to students of various ages. In 2011, they transitioned to the solar industry and worked as a Solar Consultant at Sun Solar, where they conducted in-home consultations and analyzed energy consumption to provide quotes for proposed solar systems.

Greg continued to build their expertise in the solar field and joined Green Stream Solar in 2012 as a Solar Consultant. Here, they consulted and qualified clients for solar programs and created proposals based on kWh usage and roof orientation. Greg utilized SalesForce, Excel, and the Sunpower Dealer Portal for their work.

In 2013, Greg joined Smart Energy USA as a Solar Analyst, where they tailored custom-sized PV systems and lease/purchase programs for clients in the Greater San Diego area. Greg received recognition for their work, winning the Dealer of the Year Award for 2012 and the Residential National Top Producer Award for 2013.

Greg then moved on to Efficient Solar Services in 2014, working as a Solar Analyst until 2016. During this time, they further developed their skills in analyzing solar systems.

In 2016, Greg joined TRITEC Americas, LLC as a Solar Project Analyst/Designer, responsible for designing solar layouts and shading analysis. Greg worked on financial reports using Aurora Solar software until 2020.

In the same year, Greg had a brief stint at Westhaven Inc. as a Senior PV Designer and NEM Interconnection Coordinator. Here, they designed solar layouts, handled NEM Interconnection Submittals, and NEM Load Aggregation using Aurora Solar software.

In 2021, Greg joined Sunworks, Inc. as a Senior PV Design Engineer, focusing on designing PV systems. Greg then joined Valta Energy later that year as a Senior PV Designer & Analyst, responsible for designing and analyzing PV systems.

Currently, Greg is working at DSD Renewables as a Performance Engineer, utilizing their expertise to optimize the performance of renewable energy systems.

Greg Russell has a diverse education history. Greg first attended Mission Bay High School, where they obtained their diploma. After high school, Greg enrolled in Grossmont College, where they focused on studying Business and Music. It is unclear if they obtained a degree from Grossmont College.

In 2011, Greg attended the Solar Training Institute in San Diego, where they received a certificate in Photovoltaic Design and Installation. During this time, they also completed a course in AutoCAD Design and Engineering at the University of California, San Diego.

In 2013, Greg completed their education at UC San Diego, earning a degree in Engineering with a field of study in AutoCAD Design and Engineering.

In terms of additional certifications, Greg obtained a certificate in Photovoltaic Design and Installation from the Solar Training Institute in July 2011. In September 2017, they completed a course titled "Accurately Calculate the 'Avoided Cost' of A Solar Project" offered by HeatSpring. However, the obtained month and year for their AutoCAD Design and Engineering certification from the University of California, San Diego are not specified.
