Tom Muehlbauer

Tom Muehlbauer, PMP, has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Tom currently holds the position of Director of Program Management / Tech Engineering Sales Consultant at DIVERSANT, LLC, a role they began in September 2021. In this position, Tom is responsible for building and maintaining client relationships, consulting on technology challenges, and leading solutions in areas such as agile transformation, program/project management, customer success management, software development, and application services.

Prior to their current role, Tom worked at Optum from 2015 to 2021. Tom served as the Director of IT Program Management / Training, where they contributed to strategic planning for Optum Tech University and led the operations team for all functions within Optum Technology University. Additionally, they directed the creation and presentation of internal technical training conferences for Optum Technology. Tom also held the position of Director of IT PMO, managing a $25M portfolio of internal finance applications and leading the transformation from waterfall to Agile methodology.

Before joining Optum, Tom worked at Express Scripts from 2006 to 2015. Tom served as an IT Program Manager, managing software development program/project managers and delivering a multimillion-dollar portfolio. Tom also managed projects as part of the integration of Express Scripts and Medco. Tom held the role of Sr. IT Manager in the Project Management Office (PMO) and Software QA Manager during their tenure at Express Scripts.

Tom's earlier career includes positions at Thomson Reuters, where they worked from 1996 to 2006. Tom served as a Senior Network Analyst, Software Test Manager/Lead, and held various managerial roles in software development, testing, and lab management at Cisco Systems, Inc. from 2000 to 2005. Tom also gained experience in QA and technical support at Thomson West / West Publishing from 1990 to 1996.

Throughout their career, Tom has demonstrated expertise in program management, agile transformation, training, technical leadership, and software development.

Tom Muehlbauer, PMP, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained various certifications including Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) from Optum in February 2020, Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute in January 2005, and Cisco Certified Network Associate Service Provider Operations (CCNA) from Cisco in January 2000.
