Xavier Carreras

Lead Scientist at dMetrics

Xavier is a senior researcher at dMetrics. Xavier holds a Ph.D. (2005) from the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) in Barcelona, where he also completed his undergraduate studies in CS. After a postdoc at MIT, he served as a research scientist at the UPC under the Ramon y Cajal program, and research scientist at Xerox Research Centre Europe (XRCE) in France. He is the author of over 90 papers that have been cited 4,500+ times. His research expertise is in the areas of NLP and ML, with special focus in ML and deep learning methods for NLP, syntactic and semantic parsing, information extraction, machine translation, and dialogue systems. Xavier has published in top-tier conferences and journals, and received the best paper award at CoNLL 2008 and EACL 2012. Xavier served as program co-chair of EMNLP 2016 (one of the two major conferences in NLP) and CoNLL 2009, and over the last 10 years he has served regularly in the program committees of all major conferences and journals. He currently serves as action editor of TACL.
