David van der Merwe

David van der Merwe has over 20 years of work experience in the electrical engineering field. David started their career in 1998 as a Protection Application Engineer at GEC Alstom Canada, where they worked until 2001. David then moved on to GE Multilin Canada, where they served as a Protection Application Engineer from 2001 to 2003. In 2004, David joined Eskom as the Chief Engineer Electrical Protection, a role they held for 9 years until 2013. During this time, they gained extensive experience in electrical protection systems. Following their tenure at Eskom, David worked as a Pre Operation Verification Lead at SNC-Lavalin Engineers & Constructors from 2013 to 2014, where they performed commissioning tasks and ensured the functionality of various plant processes. From 2014 to 2016, they served as a Technical Application Engineer at Doble Engineering Company, where they were responsible for technical applications. Currently, David is working at Dewa Generation as an Electrical Specialist, a position they have held since 2016.

David van der Merwe completed their education in the field of Electrical Power Engineering. From 1986 to 1988, they attended Vaal University of Technology (South Africa) and obtained a National Diploma. David then pursued further studies at the University of Pretoria from 1989 to 1994, where they obtained a BIng (Hons) degree in Electrical Power Engineering.
