Staff Product Designer, Merchant Growth

Job description

About the Team

The Merchant Growth team is responsible for growing merchants’ sales and profitability on DoorDash. We help them realize their potential through the adoption of products, services, and best practices. Our vision is to be a trusted advisor, helping them better understand their business and illuminating a path towards greater financial success and sustainability. We partner closely with teams across the Merchant organization to understand merchant needs from small businesses to enterprise customers, identify workflows that drive positive outcomes, and help them scale in order to achieve mutual business goals.

About the Role

As Staff Product Designer on Merchant Growth, you will play a pivotal role in making merchants more successful on our platform. You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and other designers to create intuitive solutions that address the unique growth needs of our merchants. By bringing a user-centric mindset that balances business needs, you will establish platforms and frameworks for partner teams to grow adoption, build new zero-to-one features, as well as drive iterative experiment-driven optimizations. Success in this role requires being able to navigate low- and high-altitude work simultaneously, balancing short-term tactical experiments with long-term strategic bets. You’ll need to be passionate about helping merchants succeed, as you’ll be expected to drive design strategy with sometimes ambiguous starting points, leveraging data, running experiments, and building business cases to influence the roadmap of the team.

You will report to the Director of Design, Merchant Success & Experience

You're excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Lead the user experience of products end-to-end, including contributing to product strategy, running design sprints, crafting visions, and establishing frameworks
  • Explore complex, ambiguous problem spaces, working with your cross-functional team to understand the opportunity, and then chart a path forward
  • Push the creative boundaries of our merchant experiences with your design explorations through wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visual design
  • Help merchants grow their businesses and improve the lives of millions of DoorDash customers every day
  • Design and ship high-quality product experiences

We're excited about you because…

  • You have 6+ years of work experience
  • You’re a systems-thinker who translates complexity into intuitive experiences and considers every facet of the user journey
  • You skillfully balance strategy, research, and design to achieve simple and elegant solutions, yet aren’t afraid to try new things to create the future
  • You think of yourself as a craftsperson pushing the envelope on quality, usually find yourself sweating over the lowest level of details and deeply care about elevating the overall experience.
  • You are an excellent storyteller and proactive communicator, and able to communicate complex topics in a clear, concise, and thorough way to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • You love to leverage quantitative data to form hypotheses that guide your design decisions.
