Shaun Patel, MD has a diverse range of work experience. Shaun began their career as an Orthopaedic Surgeon at Kaiser Permanente in September 2018. In June 2018, they also took on the role of Chair, Digital Health at the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS). Prior to that, they served on the Editorial Board of Orthobullets starting in June 2014. Shaun expanded their editorial roles by joining the Journal of Orthopaedic Experience & Innovation in April 2020 and The Journal of Arthroplasty in January 2017. Additionally, Dr. Patel has experience as a Venture Partner at MBX Capital since April 2018. In the future, they will be joining 10 East as a Strategic Advisor from April 2023 onwards and has also been selected as a Digital Health Fellow at Doximity starting in January 2023. Shaun previously worked as an Orthopaedic Surgeon at OrthoCarolina from June 2017 to August 2018. Prior to that, Dr. Patel founded and served as CEO of OrthoNinja, LLC from February 2015 to August 2018.
Shaun Patel, MD pursued their education at several prestigious institutions. Shaun started their educational journey in 2004 at the University of Michigan, where they completed a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree. Following this, from 2008 to 2012, they attended the University of Michigan Medical School, where they earned their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree.
In 2012, Patel enrolled at Harvard Medical School, where they completed their Orthopaedic Surgery Residency program from 2012 to 2017. During their residency, their field of study is not specified.
To further enhance their knowledge and skills, Patel sought additional training and fellowships. In 2016, they attended the MIT Sloan School of Management, where they obtained an Executive Certificate in Management and Leadership. In 2017, they undertook an Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Osteosynthesefragen (AO) Fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery at the University of Leeds.
Continuing their specialized training, Patel pursued an Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowship in Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction at OrthoCarolina from 2017 to 2018.
