Alicia Newton

Alicia Newton is an accomplished professional in the field of geosciences, currently serving as a Senior Scientific Officer at Drax Group since October 2022. Prior to this role, Alicia held the position of Director of Science and Communications at the Geological Society of London from August 2018 to October 2022. Alicia's extensive editorial experience includes serving as Senior Editor for Nature Geoscience and Senior Editor at Nature Publishing Group from July 2007 to August 2018, where responsibilities included selecting manuscripts for peer review and developing social media strategies. Earlier in academia, Alicia worked as a Research Assistant at the University of South Carolina, focusing on climate change and employing various analytical methods, and as a Teaching Assistant, contributing to undergraduate geology education.
