Melanie Lockett has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Melanie started their career as an Attorney Associate at Lowe, Stein, Hoffman, Allweiss & Hauver, LLP in 2007. Melanie later became a Partner at the same firm in 2014 and continues in this role until the present. In 2023, they will join Lowe Stein, LLC as an Attorney.

Additionally, Melanie has been actively involved in professional organizations such as DRI (Defense Research Institute) since 2012. At DRI, they held various leadership roles, including Vice Chair of the Insurance Law Committee and Co-Vice Chair of the Insurance Law Committee Membership, Recruitment. Melanie also served as a Moderator for the Diversity for Success Seminar in 2013 and Co-Chair for the Diversity Expo from 2012 to 2013.

Prior to their legal career, Melanie worked as an Itinerary Talented in Music Teacher at New Orleans Public Schools from 1994 to 2005. Melanie also had a brief experience as an Adjunct Professor at Xavier University of Louisiana from 2004 to 2005.

Before entering the legal field, Melanie gained valuable experience as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable L.R. Lemelle at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana from 2006 to 2007.

Melanie Lockett completed their Bachelor of Music degree in 1993 from Boston University. From 1995 to 1997, they pursued their Master of Fine Arts degree at Tulane University. Finally, from 2002 to 2006, Melanie attended Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, where they obtained their Juris Doctor degree with a focus on Civil Law.
