Tiago M. Lança

Tiago M. Lança has a diverse work experience. In 2006, they began working for the Portuguese Navy as a Naval Academy Cadet, then becoming a Subject Matter Expert in Unmanned Systems and CD&E, Operational Experimentation, Testing & Evaluation. Tiago also served as the COO of the Unmanned Vehicles Operational Experimentation Unit, a Fleet Command Staff Officer in Planning and Current Operations, and an Officer of the Watch with Deputy Navigation Officer and Deputy Public Affairs Officer roles. In 2013, they took on a role as a Drone Instructor for Udemy, and in 2016 they became a Liasion Officer for NRP Vasco da Gama during Operation TRITON for Frontex. In 2019, they earned their Certified Drone Operator certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, and in 2020 they began working as a Senior Research Officer and Seconded National Expert (SNE) in Research & Innovation for Frontex. In 2021, they earned their Drone Security Operations Certification from DroneSec, and in 2022 they became a Founder for COHORT, an External Expert on UAS / C-UAS for the European Commission, a Project Management Professional (PMP®) Certification from the Project Management Institute, and a Certified Chief Innovation Officer (CCInO®) from the Global Innovation Institute.

Tiago M. Lança holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Engenharia Aerospacial, Aeronáutica e Astronáutica from Instituto Superior Técnico and a Master of Science (MSc) in Naval Military Sciences - Navy from Escola Naval (Portuguese Naval Academy) which they obtained between 2006 and 2010.
