Ahmed Barhoum is a Senior Researcher at Dublin City University since December 2020, leading a project focused on biosensors for early cancer detection and actively participating in the National Center of Sensor Research and the Fraunhofer Project Centre. Prior to this role, Ahmed was a Lecturer/Assistant Professor at Helwan University Cairo, where responsibilities included teaching solid state chemistry, polymers, and organic chemistry, as well as leading the NanoStruc Research Group. Additional experience includes a visiting academic position at the European Institute of Membranes in France and a PhD researcher role at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, with prior doctoral studies conducted at various institutions including Leibniz Universität Hannover and Grenoble INP. Ahmed Barhoum holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering from Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
