Karol Nowak's work experience begins in 2004 when they worked as a System Administrator for CK Uł, where they were responsible for server administration and the maintenance of various services. From 2007 to 2010, they worked as a Programmer/Analyst for Sabre Holdings, participating in the development and execution of distributed system-level tests. Karol then transitioned to the role of Senior Software Performance Engineer at Sabre Holdings, certifying new applications for production deployment. In 2007, they were a Participant in Google Summer of Code, developing an Interactive Wiki Maintenance project. From 2007 to 2007, they also worked as a Programmer at the Rectorate of the University of Łódź, assessing Java-based web technologies. From 2012 to 2017, they worked as a Systems Engineer at Base CRM, taking care of service and data processing infrastructure running on AWS. Currently, since 2017, they are a Site Reliability Engineer at DuckDuckGo.

Karol Nowak received their Masters degree in Computer Science from the University of Lodz, where they studied from 2003 to 2008. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained several certifications in various fields. In 2016, Karol completed the certification course "Earth Observation from Space: the Optical View" offered by the European Space Agency through FutureLearn. In 2018, they obtained the certification "The Frozen Frontier: Monitoring the Greenland Ice Sheet From Space" also offered by the European Space Agency through FutureLearn. In 2019, Karol completed the certification course "Monitoring Atmospheric Composition" provided by FutureLearn, which covered topics from EUMETSAT, Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS), and the European Centre For Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). Most recently, in 2021, Karol obtained the certification "Data-driven Astronomy" offered by Coursera.
