Jay Shawver

Director Strategic Sourcing at Duke Energy

Jay Shawver has extensive work experience in strategic sourcing and procurement. Jay started their career at Intel in 2000, where they held various roles including Buyer, Project Manager, Commodity Manager, and Strategic Program Manager. During this time, they provided commercial content expertise, ensured legal agreements were in place, and led supply chain risk assessments. In 2008, they joined Callaway Golf as a Commodity Manager, where they developed and executed global sourcing strategies and improved procurement processes. In 2010, they moved to Duke Energy as a Senior Sourcing Specialist, responsible for strategic sourcing of transmission and distribution materials and services. Jay later became T&D Sourcing Manager, overseeing a centralized team managing materials, equipment, and services for six territories. In 2014, they were promoted to Director of Strategic Sourcing, overseeing a team managing enterprise spend and strategic vendor relationships. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated a strong ability to manage teams and budgets and deliver cost-effective solutions.

Jay Shawver has a strong education background in various fields. Jay obtained a Master's degree in Systems and Engineering Management with a focus on Supply Chain and Energy from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, they completed an MBA in International Business from the University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business from 1998 to 2000. Jay also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Trade & Spanish from Clemson University, which they earned from 1993 to 1997. In addition to their formal education, Jay Shawver has obtained the CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) certification from the Institute for Supply Management in April 2012.
