Tomas Macias has over 25 years of experience in the electrical utility industry. Tomas has previously worked as an Engineering Lead, Interim Manager, Senior Engineering Technician, Project Engineer, and Design Engineer at Duke Energy Corporation. At Tucson Electric Power, they served as an Engineering Designer, and at Mountain View Electric Association, they worked as a Field Engineer. Before that, they held the role of Lead Distribution Design Technician at Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative and worked as an Engineering Technician III at Peace River Electric Coop.

Tomas also pursued an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at ITT Technical Institute-Tampa, which they completed from 1990 to 1992. Prior to this, they obtained an AS degree in CAD/CADD Drafting and/or Design Technology/Technician from South Florida Community College in 1989 and 1990.

Apart from their formal education, Tomas has obtained several certifications. Tomas recently became Scrum Fundamentals Certified (SFC) through SCRUMstudy - Accreditation Body for Scrum and Agile in July 2022. While the obtained month and year are not listed for their other certifications, Tomas holds additional certificates including NEC Certificate from the University of Wisconsin, NESC Certificate from PDA Associates, NRECA Management Essential Certificate, and NRECA Supervisory Certificate. However, the institutions and specific dates are not provided for these certifications.
