Learning Designer at Duolingo

Estelle Tian has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. In 2012, they started as an Assistant Teacher at Kumon, where they worked until 2013. Then, from 2015 to 2016, they served as a Teacher's Assistant at MAIN LINE CHINESE CULTURE CENTER INC. During the same period, they also worked as a Digital Media Specialist at Technical Consulting & Research, Inc. In 2012, they joined Carnegie Mellon University as a Recording Engineer and later became an Undergraduate Tutor. Estelle worked there until 2016 and also served as a Research Assistant. From 2016 to 2018, Estelle worked as an English as a Second Language Instructor at AmeriCorps. Additionally, they have been self-employed as a Freelance Translator and Editor since 2016. Estelle has also worked as a Language Learning Content Creator and an ESL Expert at Duolingo on a contractual basis from 2018 to 2021. Currently, they hold the position of Associate Curriculum Designer at Duolingo.

Estelle Tian completed their Bachelor's Degree in Chinese Studies from Carnegie Mellon University, where they studied from 2012 to 2016. In 2014, they also attended Zhejiang University for a short period to further immerse herself in Chinese Language and Culture. In January 2018, they obtained a certification in G Suite from Google.
