Alex J. Durst

Managing Partner at Durst Kerridge

Alex J. Durst is a civil trial attorney with over a decade of experience handling commercial and complex civil litigation matters across a wide range of industries, with a focus on financial services litigation and high-dollar-value contractual disputes.

Alex has secured substantial results for clients, including complete defense victories as lead counsel for corporate clients against whom seven- and eight-figure damages awards were sought, and settlements in excess of seven figures for plaintiff clients in commercial litigation and other areas of litigation. His cases have been featured in the news, including the Jane Doe v. Chinedum Ndukwe sexual assault case; a public corruption case brought by the Auditor of State against a high-ranking former Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati official; a case brought by six local victims of the June 27, 2022 Amtrak train derailment disaster; and a Butler County sexual harassment case in which the jury awarded substantial compensatory and punitive damages.

Alex is undefeated in his plaintiff-side jury trials, having obtained jury verdicts on behalf of his clients in each jury trial taken to verdict. Alex also has extensive appellate experience, particularly in Ohio’s First District Court of Appeals.

Deeply involved in the legal community, Alex has served as the chair of the Cincinnati Bar Association’s Appellate Practice Group since 2018. In this capacity, Alex works closely with the Judges, Staff Attorneys, and Administrators of the First District Court of Appeals to organize CLEs, update the legal community on developments in the First District, and plan events bringing together the appellate bar and bench. Alex was also appointed by the First District Court of Appeals to the Court’s Local Rules Committee in 2018 and to co-chair its Pro Bono program. Alex is also active in professional associations within the financial services industry, including the Association of Payment Professionals.

Having lived in Spain and Argentina, Alex is completely fluent in Spanish. Prior to attending law school, Alex worked as a Spanish interpreter in the local court system.
