Erika Mitkus currently serves as the Director of the Bass Institute at The Governor's Academy, overseeing outreach, partnerships, and experiential educational programming. With a robust background in science education, Erika has taught high school biology and integrated innovative teaching methodologies. Involvement with multiple educational initiatives includes being a fellow with the Knowles Teacher Initiative, directing the KELP program focused on experiential professional development, and consulting for the MIT Scheller Teacher Education Program. Additional roles include ambassador for the Half Earth Project and various teaching positions in prestigious institutions, contributing extensively to curriculum development and professional training for educators. Erika holds a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from McGill University.
