Summary of Position:

We are looking for an experienced and proficient Diesel / Trailer Mechanic at our Lincoln Rd. truck shop facility. This individual will perform repairs and maintenance on our trucking fleet, but possibly some gas engines as well. Typical repairs include, but are not limited to, routine maintenance and repair of engines, transmissions, chassis, drive-line and body components, hydraulic systems, brake systems, electric systems, suspension systems, wheels, tires, and undercarriages.

Communicate with supervisor and/or operator for clarification of problems and discuss preventative techniques with operators to minimize future repairs.

Primary Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow direction of supervisor

  • Self-starter and work well independently

  • Running diagnostic tests on vehicles

  • Analyzing diagnostic test results

  • Replacing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems

  • Checking vehicle lighting systems

  • Performing preventative maintenance

  • Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles

  • Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist

  • Maintaining a parts inventory

  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the shop

  • Regular and consistent attendance

  

Qualifications:

  • Solid background in diesel mechanics
  • Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components
  • Good diagnostic skills
  • Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools
  • Attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organization skills
  • Strong ability to work with others in a challenging high-pressure environment
  • Ability to maintain a good disposition while working through time sensitive deadlines as well as the everyday challenges that arise

Work Environment: 

  • Duties and responsibilities are performed in a mechanic shop setting
  • Loud noises

Physical Demands: 

  • Prolonged periods of standing or walking

  • Exposure to temperatures of approximately 42° in the shop

  • Ability to speak to and hear other employees via phone or in person

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
