Hwa Pyong Ko has a long and varied work experience. In 2003, they were a Structural Engineer for the Space Grant Consortium University of Colorado at Boulder. In 2004, they were a Technical Engineer and Ground Communication Engineer for the same organization. In 2006, they were a Research Assistant at the University of Colorado Boulder. In 2008, they were a Research Assistant at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where they simulated satellite drag by studying gas-surface interaction in LEO. In 2011, they were a Mission Systems Engineer/Analyst and Ground Systems Engineer at DigitalGlobe, where they developed a Genetic Algorithm for proof of concept for Satellite Constellation Ground system scheduling optimization and conflict resolution, as well as an automated reporting tool that saved ~$100k/year of OpEx and ensured $20M revenue per month. In 2019, they were a Sr. Systems Engineer II at Raytheon and a Mission Systems Engineer/Analyst at Maxar Technologies. Currently, they are a Lead Ground Segment Engineer at EOI Space.
Hwa Pyong Ko received a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering and Science in Systems Engineering and Analysis from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2006. Hwa Pyong then went on to receive a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering and Science from the same university in 2008.
