Marwa Elcheikh has a strong background in risk management and analysis. Marwa is currently working as the Head of Risk at East West Railway Company, a position they have held since March 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Head of Risk at Babcock International Group from April 2021 to March 2022. Marwa has also worked at HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd, where they held multiple roles including Head of Risk for Phase 2A, Head of Project Risk, and Senior Risk Manager from January 2017 to March 2021. Before joining HS2, they worked at Crossrail Ltd as a Stations Risk Manager, Senior Risk Analyst, and Risk Manager from June 2012 to January 2017. Marwa's career in risk management began at Arup, where they worked as a Risk Consultant from 2007 to 2010. Marwa also had a role as a Lecturer at the University of Birmingham from July 2010 to June 2012.
Marwa Elcheikh holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Risk Management from the University of Birmingham, which they obtained in 2009. Prior to this, they completed their Master of Science (MS) degree in Construction Engineering at the same university in 2003. Marwa also obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Civil Engineering from Tishreen University in 1997.
In addition to their academic qualifications, Marwa has achieved various certifications. Marwa became a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in January 2022. In September 2020, they obtained the NEC3 Project Manager Accreditation from the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). Marwa is also a Certified Fellow of the Institute of Risk Management since May 2018. Lastly, they are a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, an affiliation they have held since September 2016.
