Chris Spencer

Principal Research Technologist at Eastman

Chris Spencer has extensive work experience in the chemical and materials industry. Chris first worked at AGC Glass Company as a Laboratory Supervisor, where they were responsible for manufacturing and testing glass coating chemicals. Chris also played a role in implementing Low-E glass coating technology into production.

Chris then joined Eastman Chemical Company, where they held various roles over the years. As a Senior Chemical Technologist, they worked on fundamental research and development of the TruLast acetylated wood process. Chris also contributed to the product development and launch of Perennial Wood decking, railing, and porch flooring as a Principal Technologist.

In their most recent role at Eastman Chemical Company as a Principal Research Technologist, Chris specialized in the application development of bioplastics and was involved in developing new polymeric materials such as TRĒVA, a cellulose-based bioplastic.

Additionally, Chris had a brief entrepreneurial stint as the Owner and Principal of Greenbelt Bicycle Rentals.

Chris Spencer has an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Chemistry from Northeast State Community College.
