Principal Scientist, Health And Policy at EcoHealth Alliance

Catherine Machalaba has had extensive work experience in various roles and organizations. Catherine is currently working at EcoHealth Alliance as a Principal Scientist, Health and Policy. Prior to this, they held the positions of Senior Policy Advisor and Senior Scientist, Policy Advisor & Research Scientist, and Program Coordinator for Health and Policy at EcoHealth Alliance between 2010 and 2021. Catherine also worked at Future Earth as a Scientific Officer for the oneHEALTH global research project starting in 2013. Additionally, they worked as a Freelance Writer for Consumer Reports on Health from 2009 to 2014 and as a Fellow at the Veterans' Engineering Resource Center in the VA Boston Healthcare System from 2009 to 2010.

Catherine Machalaba completed their PhD in Environmental and Planetary Health Sciences at CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy from 2014 to 2020. Prior to that, they obtained their M.P.H. in Public Health from Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in 2008. Catherine earned their B.A. in Biology from Wake Forest University, which they completed between 2005 and 2008.
