Position Overview:

Reporting to the Deputy Controller, the Accounting Manager oversees the Cash Management team which manages the collection, application, transfer, and investment of funds for NYCEDC and affiliated entities and the accurate and timely accounting of the related transactions. The Accounting Manager builds strong work relationships with colleagues to facilitate the transfer of information and documentation needed for financial reporting and audit by promoting a team environment of collaboration and customer service in order to respond to inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders. The Accounting Manager will also be a liaison between NYCEDC’s banking partners and the Finance Division.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and/or review and present daily/monthly/quarterly cash and investment report to Management
  • Review comprehensive workpaper package and post journal entries and account reconciliations for cash, investments, and loans and effectively addressing any discrepancies
  • Analyze and perform daily application of cash receipts by reviewing and posting cash receipts into the accounting general ledger systems
  • Understand pertinent documents, including leases and legal agreements, to ensure that transactions are timely and accurately recorded and reported
  • Work closely with bank relationship contacts for bank accounts maintenance, including analysis and reporting of bank service fees, earnings credits and interest
  • Maintain awareness of banking trends and changes in the financial services industry to make recommendations to enhance and improve banking and treasury practices
  • Monitor compliance with investment policies and guidelines
  • Respond to inquiries timely, both internal and external, and resolve issues regarding cash receipts and applications
  • Develop and monitor KPIs and forecast for cash, investments, and loans for Management review
  • Meet with internal and external auditors and provide requested support as necessary
  • Lead, motivate, and develop talent within the Cash Management team by coaching, engaging, and evaluating performance
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years of experience in Accounting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Microsoft Great Plains, MRI, and LoanPro is a plus
  • Strong foundational knowledge of US GAAP to ensure cash, investments, and loans are fairly recorded and presented
  • Self-starter with strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally in communications and interactions with internal and external stakeholders
  • Meets customer needs by developing and maintaining effective relationships and promoting a customer service orientation within the team
  • Observes the ethical and confidential attributes commensurate to the profession
  • Must be a New York City resident within 180 days of hire
  • Internal job title: Vice President, Cash Manager
Salary Range
$115,000$120,000 USD
