Position Overview: Reporting directly to the Audit Committee and operating under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Vice President of Audit holds a key role in managing the organization's relationship with external audit consultants and firms. The Senior Vice President will serve as a key liaison between the organization and external audit consultants, ensuring the seamless execution of audits and the maintenance of high audit quality and compliance standards. This role will be instrumental in safeguarding the organization's financial and operational integrity and regulatory compliance through the effective management of external audit relationships.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for external audit consultants, managing the engagement, scheduling, planning, executing and reporting of audit activities.
  • Ensure that audit activities align with the organization's objectives and that external audit consultants understand expectations, culture, key risk areas, etc.
  • Review methodologies for assessing and managing risk to ensure alignment with NYCEDC’s strategic and operational priorities.
  • Monitor the progress of external audit projects, ensuring that they are conducted in accordance with the established timeframe.
  • Assist with the allocation of internal resources to support the external audit process, including providing access to necessary information and documents.
  • Facilitate communication between external audit consultants and internal stakeholders, including the CFO, Senior Staff, and Audit Committee, while ensuring there are periodic updates to communicate potential issues or notable observations.
  • Oversee the quality control and accuracy of audit work performed by external consultants.
  • Manage the process of reviewing audit observations, recommendations, and action items with key stakeholders. Ensure follow-up activities related to remediation validation occur.
  • Ensure that external audit consultants adhere to applicable regulatory requirements, audit standards, and best practices.
  • Manage contracts and agreements with external audit consultants, including scope, fees, and deliverables.
  • Evaluate the performance of external consultants to ensure they meet contractual obligations.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of NYCEDC and its subsidiaries (e.g., BUILD, IDA)
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial, regulatory, and audit-related principles.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and external consultant relationships effectively.
  • Skilled in working cross-functionally with departments to achieve audit goals.
  • Excellent communication, including written, oral and presentation skills.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a critical degree of accuracy in data and analysis.
  • Proficiency in using audit software and tools.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Ability to travel as needed (across the five boroughs of New York City) 
  • New York City residence is required within 180 days of hire
Salary Range
$145,000$155,000 USD
