Head Of Geochemistry at Eden GeoTech

Alexis Templeton has a diverse work experience in the field of geochemistry and geobiology. Alexis is currently the Head Geochemist at EDEN, a role they assumed in 2023. Prior to this, they held several positions at the University of Colorado Boulder, including Director of the Raman Microspectroscopy Core Facility and Professor of Geochemistry and Geobiology. In their role as Professor, they trained early-career scientists and taught courses on water resources, water quality, mineral resources, and environmental geochemistry. Alexis also served various campus, national, and international organizations, focusing on analytical infrastructure and the geochemical community.

Alexis was also the Principal Investigator of the Rock Powered Life NASA Astrobiology Institute, where they led a team in investigating subsurface geological systems and processes that produce hydrogen gas and the associated microbial communities. This position lasted from 2015 to 2021.

Additionally, Alexis served as the Biogeoscience Lead for the Oman Drilling Project from 2016 to 2020, where they were involved in studying the interaction between biology and geology. Before their time at the University of Colorado Boulder, they were an NSF Microbial Biology Postdoctoral Fellow at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography from 2002 to 2005. Alexis began their career as a Senior Research Associate at Berkeley Lab from 1995 to 1997.

Alexis Templeton has an extensive education history in the field of Earth Sciences. In 1989, they earned their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Dartmouth College. Alexis continued their education at Dartmouth College, completing their Master of Science (MS) degree in Earth Sciences from 1993 to 1995. Later, they pursued further academic achievements at Stanford University, where they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Geological and Environmental Sciences from 1997 to 2002.
