Sonya Vij

Sonya Vij has extensive experience in the legal field, working in various roles throughout their career. Sonya most recently served as the Head of Legal, Compliance, and Data Protection for Edenred in the APAC region starting in 2023. Prior to that, they held the position of General Counsel and Data Protection Officer (DPO) for both Bluecharge and BlueSG. Sonya also worked as a Legal Counsel for AccorHotels, where they focused on Asia, from 2015 to 2016. Additionally, they held multiple legal positions at SATS Ltd., including Senior Manager, Manager, and Counsel. Sonya began their legal career as an Assistant Legal Counsel for Abacus International and served as an Associate Group Legal Advisor and Legal Counsel for World Sport Group. Sonya started their career as a Paralegal at Palakrishnan & Partners.

Sonya Vij completed their education at Queen Mary University of London, where they earned a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from 1997 to 2000 and a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Computer & Communications Law from 2000 to 2002. Prior to attending Queen Mary University, they attended Catholic Junior College from 1995 to 1996. In addition, they have obtained several certifications, including the Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe and Certified Information Privacy Professional - Asia (CIPP/A) from the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Sonya also holds a Practitioner Certificate in Personal Data Protection from Singapore Management University.
