Somnath Ray Chowdhury

Somnath Ray Chowdhury has a diverse work experience in the telecommunications industry. Somnath is currently working as a Sr. Staff Engineer at EdgeQ Inc., where they are responsible for QA validation of SA features in a SOC based 5G SA solution. Prior to this, they worked at Altiostar Networks, Inc. as a Senior Member of Customer Engineering, where they conducted feature testing for projects involving 5G SA, VONR, VINR, 2CC CA, HO, CMAS, and O-RAN Split 2 and Split 7. Somnath also had experience in O-RAN testing and deployment at Telefonica Germany.

Before joining Altiostar Networks, Somnath worked at Mavenir as a Senior Member of Technical Staff 2 in R&D. In this role, they focused on 5G and LTE Cloud/Virtual-RAN test case writing, testing, and leading. Somnath also performed end-to-end solution upgrade and debugging for split mode configuration of Virtual RAN. Prior to Mavenir, they worked as a Senior Technical Lead in Telecom R&D Services at HCL Technologies, where they conducted LTE end-to-end lab testing and validation for Sprint and worked in a multi-vendor environment for RAN and EPC testing.

Somnath has also worked at Radisys Corporation, Ericsson, Polaris Networks, GTL Limited, and Gemini Communication Ltd, where they gained experience in various roles related to network engineering, LTE technologies, and customer support. Throughout their career, they have collaborated with major clients such as Ericsson, Nokia, Alcatel Lucent, Samsung, NTT, AT&T, Radisys, TechMahindra, Airvana, PowerWave, Cavium, and more.

Overall, Somnath has a strong background in telecom R&D, LTE technologies, and 5G SA testing.

Somnath Ray Chowdhury completed their Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata, during the period of 2004-2008. Prior to that, they attended FBPHS School from 1992-2003 and received their 10+2 degree in Sciences. Additionally, Somnath has obtained several certifications related to Ericsson's Radio Access Network (RAN) optimization, including ETCP RAN, Ericsson Certified Associate - RAN Optimization, and Ericsson Radio Network Optimization.
