Sean Ross has extensive work experience in the music and radio programming industry. Sean began their career as the Oldies Editor and Associate Urban Editor at Radio & Records in 1983. From there, they worked as the Creative Director at WDRE in 1988 and then as the Radio Editor at Billboard from 1988 to 1992. Sean then transitioned to working at Profile Records as an A&R Manager from 1992 to 1993 before becoming the Program Director at WGCI-AM from 1993 to 1995. Ross then served as the Editor In Chief at Billboard Airplay Monitor from 1995 to 2003. In 2003, they joined Edison Research as the VP of Music and Programming and also started their influential newsletter "Ross On Radio." Sean continued writing the newsletter for various companies such as Radio-Info.com/in3 Media and Billboard. In 2012, Ross became a columnist for Billboard Biz, writing the popular "Ross On Radio" column.

Sean Ross attended the University of Michigan from 1979 to 1983, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Political Science. Prior to that, their education history includes attending Sandy Spring Friends School, although details regarding the degree obtained or field of study are not provided.
