Tony Streit

Managing Project Director | Director, Chicago Office at EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT CENTER INC

Tony Streit has a strong background in education and media, with their most recent position being the Past President of the National Association for Media Literacy Education. Prior to that, they served as the Board President for the same organization. Streit also has significant experience at the Education Development Center, Inc., where they worked as a Managing Project Director and Director of the Chicago Office. In this role, they focused on projects related to media education, technology, and informal STEM learning. Tony provided professional development, materials, research, evaluation, and technical assistance to educators and organizations. Streit was also a Board Member and Treasurer at the Community Technology Centers' Network. Additionally, they were a Co-Founder and Co-Director of Street-Level Youth Media. Earlier in their career, Streit worked as a Freelance Filmmaker.

Tony Streit completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Communications & Economics at the University of Notre Dame from 1983 to 1987. Tony then pursued Graduate Coursework in Documentary Filmmaking at Columbia College Chicago from 1987 to 1989. In 2021, Tony obtained certification in Understanding & Mitigating Implicit Bias from EDC (Education Development Center).
