Mai N.

Mai N. has a diverse range of work experience in the scientific research field. They began their career at the BioImaging Lab, Center for Cognition and Sociality, Institute for Basic Science, KAIST, where they worked as a Researcher from September 2010 to August 2016. During this time, they focused on studying the functions of the Rab small GTPase protein family in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases and specialized in various microscopy techniques.

Following their time at the BioImaging Lab, Mai N. worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Gladstone Institutes from September 2016 to July 2020. Here, they created a new mouse model for Parkinson's disease using the CRISPR/Cas9 tool, conducted research on mitochondrial dysregulation in neurological diseases, and utilized CRISPRi/a-based genome-wide screening to identify drug targets for energy-based therapy.

From July 2020 to March 2022, Mai N. joined Abcam as a Scientist/Scientific Project Manager. In this role, they were responsible for experimental design and generation of edited cell lines using the CRISPR/Cas9 technique, including knock-out, knock-in, and point mutation editing types. They also contributed to troubleshooting and developed new strategies to improve the efficiency and quality of engineered cell line products.
