Sarah Alvarado

Sarah Alvarado, Ph.D., is a Senior Research Scientist specializing in Structural Biology at Elanco since December 2020, with previous roles including Research Scientist and Postdoctoral Scientist focused on Protein Engineering and Antibody Discovery. Prior experience includes a brief tenure as a Contract Biotechnologist at Cargill Inc through HireGenics, where microbial metabolic engineering techniques were applied. Sarah completed a Doctorate in Molecular Biophysics at Rice University under the supervision of George N. Phillips, Jr., which involved research on the structural determination of natural product biosynthesis enzymes. Additional experience includes a Graduate Student Intern position in the Office of Technology Transfer at Rice University, conducting patentability analyses, and a Summer Research Internship at Pepperdine University, where research on cellular responses to nanoparticle exposure was conducted. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Occidental College.
