Principal Scientist/Programme Lead at Elasmogen

Obinna C Ubah PhD., FHEA., MRSB has a wealth of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Obinna C began their career in 2004 as an Industrial Trainee at May & Baker Pharmaceuticals. In 2006, they became an Intern Pharmacist at the Federal Medical Centre. In 2007, they moved to ZETA Pharmaceuticals as a Resident Pharmacist. In 2008, they became a Specialty Territorial Manager at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals. In 2011, they began their research career at the University of Aberdeen, where they were a PhD Researcher in Applied Medicine and Therapeutics, a Teaching Assistant in Renal and Respiratory Physiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Clinical Pharmacology, and an Honorary Teaching Fellow. In 2016, they joined Elasmogen Ltd as a Senior Scientist, Principal Scientist/Programme Lead, and Principal Investigator on a Knowledge Transfer Partnership. As Principal Scientist/Programme Lead, they lead the drug discovery and late stage pre-clinical development of autoimmune/anti-inflammatory disease targets. As Principal Investigator, they provide scientific and career guidance to the KTP associate. As a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow, they recently secured a £2M leadership funding from UKRI to support the development of Elasmogen Ltd's next generation biologics treatment.

Obinna C Ubah PhD., FHEA., MRSB's education history is as follows: In 1993, they obtained an O' Level (WASSCE) in Sciences from Phillipines Jobs and Careers. From 2000 to 2005, they obtained a Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) from the University of Benin in the field of Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Administration. From 2010 to 2011, they obtained an MSc with Distinction from the University of Aberdeen in the field of Clinical Pharmacology & Toxicology. From 2012 to 2016, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Aberdeen in the field of Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology. In 2013, they obtained an LLP Erasmus IP from Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna in the field of Innovation and Technology Management in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. From 2016 to 2018, they obtained a Postgraduate Certificate (WIPO_UNISA IP Specialization) from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika in the field of Intellectual Property Law. In 2021, they obtained a Fellow from the UK Higher Education Academy in the field of Teaching and Learning Support in Higher Education. Additionally, they obtained certifications from MIT Sloan School of Management and the World Intellectual Property Organization.
