Chris Wlaschin

SVP & Chief Information Security Officer at Election Systems & Software

Chris joined ES&S as the vice president of systems security in April 2018. In this role, he is responsible for company-wide security efforts, including product, operational, and infrastructure security. Chris’ focus includes driving security improvements into product requirements and design, ensuring the continued use of best practices throughout the product development process, reviewing and improving operational procedures, and engaging in the certification process. Chris partners with the ES&S IT team to optimize the security of the company’s enterprise-wide infrastructure and external security organizations that may be engaged to assist ES&S.

Before joining ES&S, Chris was the chief information security officer for the Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C. He oversaw the Department’s cybersecurity efforts. He has held other senior cybersecurity leadership positions in public and private sectors, including the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, National Research Corporation, and the University of Nebraska.

Chris served with the United States Navy for over 20 years in a variety of leadership positions. He earned his master’s degree from Northern Illinois University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Technology Education from Southern Illinois University. He also holds a current CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certification.
