Matt Thomlinson

CTO, Enterprise & Platform Services at Electronic Arts

Matt Thomlinson is the CTO for Enterprise and Platform Services at Electronic Arts, a leading entertainment and video game company. He is responsible for delivering technology to support the enterprise, production infrastructure, and live services for EA.

Prior to joining the company, Matt led security efforts at Microsoft as VP of Security in the Cloud and Enterprise division. There he was responsible for hyper-scale infrastructure security services that underpin Azure, as well as creating customer-facing security services used by Azure and Office 365. He also led the organization responsible for Microsoft’s world-class security response, innovative security mitigations and attack detection, security analytics as well as cyber threat intelligence across Microsoft's portfolio of products and services.

Prior to that he led global teams of security professionals who centrally managed all of Microsoft's product/services security risks, global product & services privacy & security incident response, and maintained enterprise security across enterprise & production networks. He also managed government Information Assurance relationships and was an international speaker on government security policy issues.

Matt is involved across the software industry as a security specialist and has held government advisory roles. He is former Chairman of NIST’s Information Security & Privacy Advisory Board (ISPAB), the only public IT Security advisory board to the US federal government. Matt was recognized as a 2014 Federal 100 winner for his work to secure the US federal government and involvement in creating the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and was a 2015 Computerworld Premier 100 IT Leader.
