Roland Merker

Roland Merker has extensive work experience in various roles at different companies. From July 2015 to December 2017, they worked at Elektrobit as a Team Manager, Line Management, Navigation, where they led a team of 30 IT Engineers within the Navigation domain. From January 2018 to October 2018, they served as Chief Expert, Portfolio Manager, Business Management at the same company. Roland then became the Head of Portfolio Development, Business Management at Elektrobit from October 2018 to January 2022. Currently, they hold the position of Global Head of Portfolio Management since January 2022. Prior to this, from 2003 to 2015, they worked at Schmetterling Reisen GmbH & Co KG, where they held multiple roles, including Head of Product Management, Head of Mid- and Backoffice, Team Manager, Mid- and Backoffice Support, and Project Manager E-Commerce. In these roles, they were responsible for leading teams, developing software solutions, managing projects, and analyzing market trends within the tourism industry.

Roland Merker completed their education at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) from 2004 to 2007, earning a degree in Diplom-Betriebswirt (DH) in the field of Wirtschaftswissenschaften BWL. In 2005, they also obtained a certification as a Business Mediator (DH) from the same institution. In 2006, they briefly studied International Business and European Marketing at Xamk - South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences. Additionally, they hold several certifications, including DevOps Foundations: DevSecOps, Software Architecture Foundations, IoT Foundations: Fundamentals, and Strategic Thinking from LinkedIn, as well as the Certified SAFe 5 Lean Portfolio Manager certification from Scaled Agile, Inc. In 2021, they obtained the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from The Open University.
