President at Elizabethtown College

President Betty Rider was named President of Elizabethtown College on November 2, 2022. A veteran in higher education, she has been serving in various roles from faculty to administrative positions at Etown for more than 30 years. She spent the first half of her career at Etown as a faculty member in the Department of Psychology and the second half in various administrative positions. She assumed the position of Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs in 2016. In this position, she was the Chief Academic Officer of the College and provided appropriate leadership with other administrators. She worked closely with the Associate Provosts and Deans and provided strategic direction and oversight to the College's academic programs, including those offered through the School of Graduate and Professional Studies. President Rider also oversees the College's seven academic schools.

President Rider is a graduate of Gettysburg College and has master’s and doctoral degrees in psychology from Vanderbilt University. She also completed Harvard’s Institute for Educational Management.
